Can We Ban Negitive in Our Lives? Journal

Is it possible to start your day and not be negative? There are so many people who wake up in a bad mood and it continues through the day until they come home and go to bed in a bad mood. What a waste of a day.

Some people yell, throw things, or lash out at others to release their negative emotions.

For me I "sigh" when I catch myself it is me holding back something negative and rather than putting thought into words I sigh. The heaver the sigh the worse the comment I want to make.

My question is for me is to figure out how to wake up on the right side of the bed, continue the day without confrontation, and end it appreciating all the gifts I have in life.

My plan is to use my journal to make a daily wake up list and end of day list. I think being un prepared for the day is the biggest contributor to my negatives also lack of sleep.

I keep a lot of quotes and affirmations in my journal along with struggles and achievements.

Writing about things that didn't get done isn't negative as long as I address the task in a positive way.

“See the positive side, the potential, and make an effort.” ~Dalai Lama

Here are some quotes I found to be helpful. If you go to my house you will see the on the fridge door, hanging on the wall or on the light switch cover (so every time I turn the light on or off I am reminded of the positive message)

Watch your thoughts, they become words.
Watch your words, they become actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become your character.
Watch your character, it becomes your destiny.

When I am surrounded by negatives...kids, husband, co-workers I have to put up a shield to keep the negative words away. My son is a teenager and is full of opinions and emotion. He is on the daily journal habit but I am hoping that if we can come up with some routines that he wont feel the pressure to lash out at me because his soccer stuff isn't ready or he can't find his ear buds.

The interesting thing I have found with negative thoughts or words it is comes from a pattern. You have a negative thought pattern and it causes a tumble effect of emotions all wallowing in a negative pit of bad emotions. Emotions that range from criticism, self berating, regret, and guilt to others that are so subtle that you don't even realize you have done the negative action until you reflect on the day or the event. That is the pattern that I need to break. I need to be mindful of what I am thinking to break the pattern of negativism.

Dwelling or ruminating on the past is not helpful
and will cause negative emotions, but you can use
past experiences to help make decisions and adjust your actions

Most importantly I have to realize that the negative thing is short lived. If I think that this emotion is going last forever or everything is going to turn out bad...It will. Look positive and you will fee positive it is simple cause and effect. I can't assume the outcome will be negative.

The greatest, perhaps the only,
real power we all have as individuals is
the choice of how we react to life.
