Last year marked the first year for the Festa 5K that had over 100 runners participate. Last year’s charity was the Falls Cancer Club with funds from the race we were able to help many in the area with cancer. The Jim Klett is celebrating it’s 35 year honoring one of the founders of Summit Athletic Running Club Jim Klett. The late Klett did most of his running in the Akron area and made sure that his family participated and learned the love running. He was also instrumental in starting up and organizing many area races in the 70’s and 80’s. In the past this race has donated thousands of dollars to various local charities including Summit County Children Services’ annual school supply and backpack program for area children in agency care.  Proceeds from this year’s event will allow Summit Athletic Running Club along with the Festa Italiana to make contributions to various non-profit organizations that provide services that assist those in need in our community.

The Festa Italiana will have a special booth Friday July 17th from 6 to 8 pm for registration and early packet pick up at the info booth at Falls River Square for both the Festa 5K and Klett 10K or on race day at 7 am at the Falls River Square Pavilion. Registration information can be found at summitathletic.com or contacting race director Rebecca Davey-Vivalo at festafivek@gmail.com.
